HyProCell was featured at the LASER World of Photonics 2017 in Munich, Germany on 29th July 2017. This is the pre-eminent event of the sector with over 1,200 exhibitors and 32,000 trade visitors from Germany, France, UK, Japan, Switzerland, the USA and the rest of the world.
HyProCell was part of the Forum “Digitisation of laser-based manufacturing in Europe”, which was organised by the European Commission, Photonics 21 and I4MS project LASHARE. A key objective was to identify topics and activities that support digitisation in the photonics sector, provide input to future work programmes at European level and to give directions to actual work that is carried out in collaborative and industrial projects.
Dr.-Ing. Andres Gasser Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT presented at the Forum the goals, approach and initial achievements of HyProCell. In particular, he explained how the project develops and demonstrates the new concept of multiprocess production cell, featuring both additive and subtractive manufacturing connected over ICT platforms. He also gave an overview of how the concept is being implemented at industrial (pilot facility) level in order to validate it in real settings, manufacturing real parts and measure the benefits.
The next LASER World of PHOTONICS will take place from June 24 to 27, 2019 and the next World of Photonics Congress from June 23 to 27, 2019.
