The First HyProCell Technical Committee Meeting took place on the 10th and 11th of May 2017 and was hosted by the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT in Aachen, Germany.
The HyProCell partners reviewed the progress made across the different work packages addressing topics such as laser-based additive manufacturing machine adaptation, software workflow frameworks and communication standards, integration at production cell level and foundations for exploitation. The architecture of pilot facilities, their respective hybrid production cell layout and the required R&D by partners to complete the workflow received special attention with dedicated parallel sessions. For each of the pilot facilities, the entire process chain was precisely defined and prerequisites for testing and validation were appraised.
The meeting participants had the opportunity to visit ILT’s state of the art research facilities and observe Selective Laser Melting (SLM) and Laser Metal Deposition (LMD) manufacturing processes in action. During the tour of the facilities they also exchanged experiences and best practices with ILT personnel not directly working on HyProCell tasks.
